Advice on headphones?? Empty Advice on headphones??

Post by HCR Karma Mon Feb 18, 2013 10:25 am

Hi all.

Was looking for some help please. As many of you know I prefer to use a wheel, and as such I seem to be a bit limited in the choice of headphones that work well with it.

I would like to go fully wireless, and have been looking at the Mad Catz Warhead 7.1 set, but at £220 they are WWAAYY over what am willing to pay out for just now.

So, in that light,,does anyone know of a wireless set of cans that DONT need plugged into the wheel for speech?

Any advice would be ace.

might be worth spending a tenner on a new elite one just to see if its a bug in the set you have

although i would like a wireless one as well, as it's difficult to stay stuck to the wheel

I use a wireless Microsoft one and been using it for the last year and the battery'll still last a good 8 hours but that's only if you want your sound coming through the tele Smile

i prefer my sound through the headset if possible. I need to get something sorted as am fedup having to use two sets of headphones at the same time to get sound though one and speech through the other,,,seems daft.

just found a replacement mic cable for my existing Turtle beaches without the shroud,,

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GOLD-TURTLE-BEACH-MICROPHONE-MIC-LEAD-CABLE-CHAT-XBOX-360-CHAT-REPLACEMENT-WIRE-/360413613922?_trksid=p3284.m263&_trkparms=algo%3DSIC%26its%3DI%26itu%3DUCI%252BIA%252BUA%252BFICS%252BUFI%26otn%3D21%26pmod%3D160506409101%26ps%3D54

Gonna order it and see if it solves it,,,my headphones (not xbox ones) work ace and as such if i can keep em i would be happy,,so will give this a try befor einvesting in a set of Warheads or the like ot just miss out the wheel completely

What wheel are you using?
I ask as I am using a Fanatec CSR Elite & the only headset that works is the standard Xbox one.
If you plug in a set of headphones the sound cuts in & out this seems to be a problem with Fanatec CSR family of wheels.
I now have the Warhead 7.1 & can recomend them but as you said thay are a bit expensive.
Hope this helps

Advice on headphones?? Empty Re: Advice on headphones??

Post by HCR Karma Wed Feb 20, 2013 5:18 pm

hi guys,

quick update. I ended up finding a suitable cable without a shroud which allowed me to use my turtle beaches with the wheel(a csr at present) and had a fiddle with the sound levels in the xobox profile, and it seems to be working way better. Was in a party using the new cable and by all accounts the echo was gone and my speech was clearer,,so fingers crossed its the solution i was after Smile

But time will tell. I still think i might upgrade to the triton 7.1`s, as they operate on a different frequency ot the signal used my the wheel for its connection, which would be a very positive thing as far as i can tell.

But,,some breathin time bought for now,,lol

Thanks for the input chaps. cheers
