I remember the Germans doing something similar with the Mercedes Evo. with all the top drivers.
Ayrton Senna was a driver as well as Nikki Lauder. Senna won of course.

30-11, 7-12, 14-12, 21-12 are the dates I am hoping for.
There are a couple surprises in the works as far as the rules go... I just hope the research and development staff are in agreement w/me on how to make this a pure drivers series.

Re: IROC 74 Series @ TORA
A couple notes:
Assists will be limited to Transmission/Steering options as there was no TCS/ABS/STM or Driving/Braking Lines in 1974.
Tyres will be Drag Slicks to simulate the sort of degradation found on early racing tyres as well as keeping the race in the hands of the driver.

Re: IROC 74 Series @ TORA
This sounds interesting. Is this an individual drivers championship or will there be teams??

Individual championship, but in true IROC tradition there will be series/league representation on the entry list.

Re: IROC 74 Series @ TORA
It's a bit twitchy, but oddly predictable. In testing @ Infineon, I went off at the same point of the Carousel five laps in a row, until I figured out how to make the beast do something else. Once I changed my line a bit, that turn was fine.

thats me out am afraid. Raced in several series where drag tyres have been used to simulate damage and hated the results.
Sorry chief.

The whole drag slicks concept came from the day I mistakenly set up the first IROC 79 race to 20% rear grip handicap, then was reaffirmed by racing in Virtual Motorsports' NASCAR series on the drag tires.
I figure if a 800 HP unrestricted NASCAR can get around Road America w/o a hitch on the slicks, then there should be few issues with them on a 249 HP Porsche. Yes they are less grippy than race tires, but IMO they are light years above stock or street tires.

Can you have any type of livery? or does it have to be the vinyl set that you sent to me?

For historical accuracy's sake, I'd prefer that you use the official sticker set, minus the white backgrounds.

Re: IROC 74 Series @ TORA
Well after further deliberation, it seems that all assists off + drag slicks are too much for some to bear, so the Drag Slicks are out.
I'll post the adjusted PI, but all you have to do if you have the tune I sent is swap drag for race tires.

Why?? I loved how the porker drove like it did on drags. Ah well back to the drawing board.

Re: IROC 74 Series @ TORA
Sorry Cappie, but unlike Bernie Ecclestone, when people voice their concerns, I listen... and it seems that there were far more against the drag slicks than in favor of them.
All in all, I am starting to think that the race tires will make for better racing in a fuller race lobby.

Fair point, still looking forward to racing these porkers

Re: IROC 74 Series @ TORA
After the fun of the 1st IROC championship this should be great fun, but Id like stick with Drag tyres, its the closest thing to the Forza 2 tyre wear that made the driver have to think while they were racing. If round 1 is a nightmare due to this just change the tyres?

Re: IROC 74 Series @ TORA
if the tyres are gone i will try and get along to a round or two. Thanks for the re-think Mikey
Franchitti, we tested a few series with drag tyres but found too many problems with inconsistency in wear rates in relation to wheel/pad users. Wheel users could get far more out of the drag tyres than pad users and as such it was not fair on the whole field. Its a good idea i grant you to use the drag tyres to simulate the wear, but i feel it just dont work as it should.
Just my point of view though,,others may have found different results.

Re: IROC 74 Series @ TORA
Ah I just read the rules (I might be mistaken) but do you need to have won a championship to race this series??
If so I can't race as that I have NEVER won a championship, however I did win my first online race in the mighty minis

Re: IROC 74 Series @ TORA
Just a question on the build. Can the rims be changed if they are the same weight at the build wheels?
