ABS or not. Empty ABS or not.

Post by danfay12 Fri Nov 23, 2012 1:09 pm

Afternoon guy's.
Just asking the question about ABS. I'm fairly new to forza,I have been playing the game since January this year, and enjoying it. One thing I can't get my head round is not using ABS I just seem to lock up to easily!!. There does not seem to be much warning from grip to slide.so I thought I'd ask you all for some advice and help. Very Happy

If your starting out without ABS lower your brake pressure and move the brake balance back (if you dont want the fronts to lock) or forward (If you want to brake deep into braking zones). Id try back first and mess around with the pressure

Defo without.

It does take a fair bit of getting used to , but once you learn the pressure needed it becomes second nature. The degree of control it gives you back is well worth the learning curve.

You could try putting your brake pressures down a bit till you get used to it in the transition period,,,might make life a little easier.

I dont use it, i havnt been since about may i think. You can change the pressure and front/back bias to help you out with locking up, it might take a lil while to get right but when you do, you'll know you have

Hope this helps mate

This sounds good to me. I have my braking set at 120%ish so I'll lower this and the bias at 52% front. I think good practise is key then.
Thankyou all for the good advice. Very Happy

I used ABS throughout FM2 then decided to go without in FM3... it seems that getting used to no ABS in crappy stock F Classers was fairly easy, then work your way up the ladder through E/D/C etc.

One thing that I did notice is that I could go into the corners much deeper w/o ABS than I ever could with it.

You'll find that the longer you race on here with XPLR, the better you'll get.

I used to use ABS, traction control, and manual gears without clutch. Plus I was shite at tuning ....

Then as soon as Forza 4 came out and I really got involved with XPLR competitions I slowly started to use less as less assists, and got quicker by racing against the other guys here. Now I use no assists, I'm a lot quicker than I was ... But I'm still shite at tuning most cars Laughing

Just persevere mate, practice hot lapping the slower cars without ABS and you'll pick it up quicker.

Best of luck Very Happy

Heck, I just started using the clutch about 6-8 weeks ago... now I wonder why the frig I waited so long. I used to doubt how it could be worth a second, but in most cases I have picked up closer to two seconds a lap.
