Do you think the proposed system is better for scoring?
Re: Future Changes for XPLR - All Please Read
No problem...I'm surrounded by people at work who can do this formula in their sleep.

Re: Future Changes for XPLR - All Please Read
i can do it... and i am working it out at the moment
but we need a simple system, i dont wanna spend ages explaining to people why they finished where they did
a SIMPLE time system, seems appropriate

Really not much to explain. Its based on overall race time per person with a set lobby to lobby time penalty. A driver can only move up one lobby no higher than 4th. That's it. Pretty simple.

which isn't the only thing being suggested in this forum... i have demoed what you are thinking of... it's in the CO section

I think the time delay for b and c makes sense as it would be replicating the extra time it takes for a back of the packer to get to the start finish line. 5 and 10 might be a bit long but that can be sorted. Bonuses for qualifiers would defeat the purpose. Chad thanks for doing all that work. You must of spent a fair amount of time on it.

I also think 5 seconds is too much and you can only use one or the other. time handicap or bonus points. Not both.

Re: Future Changes for XPLR - All Please Read
my logic behind the 5/10 second handicap is that for the person on pole in B lobby (potentially 14-16 on the grid) it would take them 5 seconds to cross the start finish line, whereas on split lobbies, they cross it immediately

perhaps then with no handicap in race 2 to simulate partial reversed grid

Guys I just went through the races and did a bunch of pausing as cars were crossing the start finish for the first time. ST cars are right around 2 seconds from 1st to 7th and b spec is just under 3 seconds. 5 and 10 might still be excessive.

Just keep what we have & it'll be simple as anyway xD

I think that number will be based on individual series and the number of people in the rooms. Easily determinable though.

The 9 no's are against the proposed system of swapping positions in lobbies.

I think the 5 and 10 seconds seem appropriate, not only should we take into account the distance they would normally be from the start line but also the fact that it takes a second or 2 to overtake
I would also have the 5/10 second delay in the second race to also take into account having to work through the field. I know its a reverse grid so some sort penalty already but think the time delays would also make it very close come the end of that race

Re: Future Changes for XPLR - All Please Read
As soon as you guys implement this, I'm out of here. You way aswell just have randomly assigned grid slots for qualifying as it means absolutely nothing now. People could say that they can't make qualifying and just show up for the race in C lobby, hot lap for the race & get a better position then they deserve. They're not sandbagging because they didn't qualify at all.
May aswell give al the people that have spent ages getting good at this game a power handicap aswell.

Too much is emphasized on qualifying and not the race. We are devising a points system that rewards drivers race performance and not what lobby they qualify in as that is unfair due to the lobby limitations. The current system we are talking about is easily far better than any other scoring system currently being utilized. We just have to iron out the wrinkles which I believe we are very close.
Like I said before...this will be the baseline for future series pionts structure and all drivers will benefit from it.

Apart from the drivers that are good at qualifying. They get nothing from this?
