Stewards - XPLR NEEDS YOU ! Empty Stewards - XPLR NEEDS YOU !

Post by AndyT306 Thu Nov 01, 2012 2:05 pm

Recently we had an inquiry submitted by a driver who was not involved directly in an incident, which brought the question as to why he had reported it...

The stewarding system can be used by anybody to report conduct during races which is in breach of our race rules, although replays are scrutinised to a degree the XPLR staff to do not have time to sit and watch hours of replays to check everyone is racing fairly - this is where we need everybody to contribute in highlighting issues to us!

While watching recent replays I have been unhappy with some of the behaviour on track and have been surprised it wasn't reported, I can't take action on unreported incidents as it wouldn't be fair to dish out penalties for what I have seen, when I haven't reviewed everything (which I don't have time to do).

Reminders I would like to make:

1. Drivers much give each other reasonable room, nudging off the circuit/turning into another driver is not acceptable, this is a virtual racing site - in the real world you wouldn't drive into someone - if you have lost visibility of someone use the distance indicator to assist you, if it's under 20ft you are probably close enough to make contact if you take the same line.

2. Departing the circuit to avoid an incident is acceptable, however if you gain positions from doing so you must forfeit the positions, this can be done whenever it is safe to do so (ideally on a long straight) - communicating this to the other driver(s) is desirable

I would also like to make a reminder of the procedure for drivers who are facing an inquiry

IF A STEWARDS INQUIRY IS LODGED AGAINST YOU

- If a stewards inquiry is lodged against you you will be contacted by a Co informing you of details of the alleged incident.

- You will then have 24hours to review the incident and determine if you wish to offer a guilty or not guilty plea.

- If your plea is guilty the matter will be dealt with straight away and you will receive a 20% reduction to your penalty.

- If your plea is not guilty you must provide the Co with your replay (either by sending it or putting it on your storefront) and your reasons for your not guilty plea. The incident will then be reviewed and the outcome will be made public in the steward section.

- If you do not respond within 24hours your plea will be taken as not guilty but you will lose the right to use your replay and give your defense case (both of which can be vital to your defense). The incident will be reviewed and the outcome will be made public in the steward section.

- You will not receive details of the reasons for the outcome only the outcome itself.

- The inquiry will then be closed and any further correspondence from you about this matter will not be responded to and could result in further action against you.

I have highlighted one very particular point here.

Also in this procedure it doesn't mention that it is in any way acceptable to verbally abuse the CO for contacting you - they are not the one who has brought the accusation, in future if this does happen then a plea of guilty will be automatically passed WITHOUT points reduction, and in extreme cases could lead to a further penalty being issued

XPLR needs YOU to make this a fair and clean racing environment - please help us to prevent unfair driving, and please assist staff as much as possible when required.
