A suggestion for the races

Hi all, i was just looking the the race rule etc for the series and came across this


For the Tarmac Terrors there will be 3 races. The first race will be a sprint race from your qualification position. Race Two will be a second sprint race but from the finishing positions of Race One. The last race of the night will be reversed grid of the second race and be the longest of the 3

Could I make a suggestion that the second race be a reverse of the finishing positions of race 1 and then the 3rd can be in the reverse order of finishing for race 2

I feel that this would mix up the grids very well and give drivers that arent as fast a better chance of getting some good points

as it stands currently race 1 and 2 will be the fastest drivers at the front and they are likely to take the top postions in these 2 races. The 3rd race will be a reverse of the finishing positions of race 2 so the slower guys will be at the front but as it is a longer race it will give the faster guys plenty of time to catch them up so it is quite possible that the slower guys will always finsih at the back of the field

I really beleive that changing the starting format for the grid on races 2 and 3 will give even better closer racing and some of the other guys a chance of a win, especially in race 2 as they would be at the front in the sprint race

Current Format

Race 1 - Qually
Race 2 - Race 1 Finishing Position
Race 3 - Race 2 Reversed Finishing Position


Proposed Format

Race 1 - Qually
Race 2 - Race 1 Reversed Finishing Position
Race 3 - Race 2 Reversed Finishing Position




In my opinion the proposed format would give a better mix of grid come race 3 - however it would take longer to run - in the format we have chosen we only need to reset the lobby once...

the idea of 2 sprint races brings more element of chance/luck into the event - something could happen to one of the front runners, putting him to the back of the grid for race 2

Thats what i'm trying to get at

The back markers will be more reliant on accidents happening to give them the slightest chance of a good finish where as the new format would give a better mix of the field and will keep alot of interest in it till the end if eveyrone is able to compete for high points

The format of the races as it is (especially the longer race being last) is set up to give the faster guys a better opportunity to win in all 3 races rather than perhaps just 2 (first and last) in the format I have proposed

could even go with

Race 1 - Qually
Race 2 - Race 1 - Reversed Finishing Position
Race 3 - Race 2 - Finishing position of race 2

and only 1 lobby reset would be needed

I think thats a good idea insted of ppl going into the distance after a few laps .......

But the cars seem to be that close even the way we got it I would think it would be close

But I do like that idea id be up for it

i'd prefer only one reset for time issues and connection issues... if some people struggle getting into a lobby... the reset almost always causes a failure

I agree with Andy that the one reset is preferable due to possible connection issues, so we have the original format or the second proposal i made which was

Race 1 - Qually
Race 2 - Race 1 - Reversed Finishing Position
Race 3 - Race 2 - Finishing position of race 2

But as you said, its down to the CO. Im good either way but think the proposed format would mix it up well and keep interest very high

Lets say eggy gets pole and wins the first race he's then stuck in what would be lobby b for the next two races ? If so gamble on the qual and grab b lobby finish 1st b lobby then win the next two races giving him two 1st is that right ?

What i have proposed with only 1 reset needed----

Race 1 - Eggy is on pole and wins the race

Race 2 - Eggy would start last in A lobby (or whatever lobby he quailified in) and lets say he finishes 7th

Race 3 (longer race) - Eggy would then start 7th(or in whatever position he finished in race 2)


As it stands at the moment it would go like this

Race 1 - Eggy is on pole and wins the race

Race 2 - Eggy again is on pole and wins the race

Race 3 - Eggy starts last on the grid but as this race is a longer race and not a sprint race he has got more time to use his superfast driving skills and could easily finsih in the top3 or win the race

Ultimately, with my proposal, the superfast guys will still be superfast and have a good chance to get very good points at all 3 races but this will give the middle of the pack and back runners the chance of at least 1 very good finish (mainly in race 2) out of the 3 races

No, keep race 3 as a longer race as then the fast guys wont be penalised much for, well, being fast and qualifying high. The chances are that in race 3 all the fast guys will take the tops spots due to it being a longer race (which they may not do if it was a sprint race)

as the top guys then have a good chance of finishing high/winning in both race 1 and race 3 it then allows the "others" to have a chance of a podium in race 2

like the format, we ran the same in the old days of club racing. Great coming through the field and gave the not so good qualifiers a good chance.
How about first three top point scorers getting a 2PI penalty (weight/ballast or power) worked for the touring car championship and keeps it close. then if your don't score the top three points in the next meeting u get it back.

PI penalties take a massive amount of testing... and are not that simple to build into higher PI cars

I know its up to ranger but I would enjoy it think it would be wicked

we have discussed another option... which is actually even easier to work - Nightmare will be posting details later

the rules have been updated, please check the information thread

we believe this will mix the grid well over the 3 races, and also avoid the need for any lobby resets on the night

Oh well this worked as well as a fart in a space least we can go back to what we know works !

New systems have to be tried, and its a shame we have to trial them in events themselves to see how they go, as we don't have the size of test team needed to do otherwise.

Good thought on this one but never worked in practice, oh well,,,knowledge gained. Thanks to all who turned up last night. Hope the first round was a belter for you all.
