Help needed regarding simple video editing please

HI folks,

Hope your well. I,m after some advice regarding video editing software. I fancy having a crack at doing a weekly round up of the various series we are running but not sure what direction to start in.

If possible i am after something thats free or bloody close to it and easy to use, and is there a decent application for doing overlay graphics and animations that anyone knows of,,or is it just best to import items from flash/ photoshop etc.

Any advice would be great
