Grid Autosport...what do you think?
Hi guys,
Just spotted this over in VVV and thought it of interest. We all know the grid games well and their short comings as far as the type of racing we do here, but this new title looks like it may have addressed several of those problems.
Have a look over this link if you have not already boned yourself up on this title,,and let us know what you think.

Re: Grid Autosport...what do you think?
Obviously with Codemasters history of touring car games I am very interested. That trailer made it seem very "video game" though.
Re: Grid Autosport...what do you think?
I hear ya on the trailer...but they still have ot sell the game so I kinda get the pitch they are setting there.
Its more what they say is on the game and the change of ethos that interests me.
We will see. Am defo keeping my eyes peeled for it though,,lol

Re: Grid Autosport...what do you think?
It looks interesting. I only ever played the demo for Grid 1 and I didn't care for it. A lot will depend on the physics, tuning, and upgrading, or lack of it. I'm also concerned that they show the footage from the PC version. Sometimes the console versions aren't quite as pretty.
Re: Grid Autosport...what do you think?
it does say that they have looked at the physics side of the game, and hopefully made it way less arcade based,,not pure sim but hopefully a marked improvement. They do kinda have to cater for all abilities I suppose which is fair play,,they wanna shift copies of the shelf after all,,lol
I think for me at present am kinda keen to see anything decent new come out for the 360 and indeed as a whole, the online racing guys like ourselves. With FM5 being as it is and its drawbacks for league racing/decent replay coverage etc and FM4 to me anyways is feeling a little stale (its still great but truth be told we have all been hammering it for how long? would be nice to have a little change).
Maybe this will prove just the tonic till Project "will be released when am 73" CARS eventually hits our sweaty palms...lol.
But,,,its maybe a pile of steaming dog poo with nowt more than a promise of better things to come and a slick trailer(lets face it,,its would not be the first codemaster title to leave us feeling sold short)
However.....the hope if it being good is getting me excited,,so am hanging on to that
Roll on June......... Â

Re: Grid Autosport...what do you think?
Either way I will grab a copy next month and hopeful crossed fingers for something that will scratch the "new" itch for us 360ers
Re: Grid Autosport...what do you think?
I'm excited about it tbh . Looks great. Hated grid 2 though and as my brother in law works for codemasters. I got to support the family haha.
Still more excited about my xbox one coming Friday.

Holy Hell go to :47 and listen to the sound of those BTCC cars with the launch assist cracking.
Also in this video you can see the cars seem to turn in really well and not super robotic.
Greg we might need another touring car series asap.
HA!!

Re: Grid Autosport...what do you think?
Well, after watching that, the graphics look a bit arcadey, but tolerable. They did not mention tuning, which would be a must for any sort of competitive series racing I think. They did mention liveries which was nice. I get the feeling the game is geared more for single player career play than organized online racing. Did you catch endurance racing is 8-10 minutes? Really!?! That's just a warm up, LOL!!
Re: Grid Autosport...what do you think?
yeah the 8 to 10 minute thing was weird. I thought the race cars looked like they handled quite good but the street cars were drifttastic! Thats a word I swear.
Re: Grid Autosport...what do you think?
So Hockenheim, Sepang, San Francisco. Looked like Indianapolis and possibly Laguna in the trailer as well.
I am crossing fingers for Brands Hatch

Re: Grid Autosport...what do you think?
Just cut this form Reddit Games site regarding whether the cars are tunable, and what tracks there might be....am actually excited that this might just be worth it

Lots of information on the codemaster blog: http://blog.codemasters.com/grid/04/introducing-grid-autosport/
Seemed to be a more serious racing game than PGR-like Grid 2.
Here is a summary of the rather lengthy blog post:
1. Codemaster had acknowledged that they had made some bad decisions in Grid 2 which resulted a poorer quality game so Grid Autosport is set to fix some of Grid 2's problems such as bringing back cockpit views. Instead of one cockpit view, Grid Autosports has 2 different cockpit views: The first one is on the driver seat, the second one is on the centre of the dashboard.
2. They promised that the physics of the new game will be more towards the simulation spectrum while it remains fun and still easily accessible. It will be authentic, akin to Grid 1 but not as difficult or clinical to play like Assetto Corsa and iRacing. At the same time, each car will be tuned differently as a touring car like a Ford Focus BTCC will handle differently from a Formula 3.
3. There will be different classes of cars that ranges from Touring Cars, GT, Single-Seaters, Muscle Cars, Drift, Supercars, Hypercars, Time Attack, Prototypes and others. Also, different game modes like Endurance that you have to manage your tire wear, tightly packed touring car races and racing through claustrophobic roads with street cars. In short, Autosports is closer to Grid 1 or TOCA 3 than Grid 2 that focuses mainly on street races with mostly high performance stock cars.
4. Confirmed tracks so far are: Hockenheim, Sepang, San Francisco, Jarama and Yas Marina. Much more tracks are featured in the game where Codemaster claimed that they have 22 locations with a combined route list that totals over 100. They also claimed that circuits made up the bulk of the tracks despite offering street tracks. No sign that Live Routes from Grid 2 is coming back.
5. Career wise, you will be allowed to play as a professional racing driver where you’ll be able to join and switch teams, fulfil sponsor demands and beat rivals. Also, the well loved team mate feature from Grid 1 is back with a new feature that you can command your team mate to defend its position or move up the positions with a single button press. Apparently you can also request information from your team engineers. There will be multiple racing discipline in the new game where you can choose what you like to play and ignore the rest that you do not enjoy, similar to Grid 1.
6. There will be practise rounds and qualifying before each race. Qualifying determines your starting position so no more RNG starting position.
7. Cars will have tunable parts such as brake bias, differential, downforce, gears, ride height and suspension at both the front and back.
8. Multiplayer wise, Racenet is back with new features like ability to create race clubs and race under the same team with friends. Also have similar weekly challenges as Grid 2.
Please let me know if I had missed out anything.
tl:dr: Grid Autosport is less like Grid 2, more like Grid 1 or TOCA games. Cockpit view, team mates and multi racing discipline are back."

Re: Grid Autosport...what do you think?
if its like pgr with a bit of simulation then its a winner for me... that was one of the best games for the 360
Re: Grid Autosport...what do you think?
Thanks for that update Karma. I'm definitely more interested now. It may provide a welcomed distraction to FM4 for a bit, since I have no plans on getting that fiasco they call FM5.
Re: Grid Autosport...what do you think?
I hope this will tide us over nicely till Project CARS comes out,,,sorry,,IF it comes out Â

Did anyone try this yet, and if so what are your thoughts? Only seen a few post over at FM.net so far, but they seem to be pretty positive.
